NOTE: I had to post a cute story that a friend wrote awhile back regarding this subject! I love the way he's so creative in conveying his answers to the most asked about questions in life and in love!
Story was edited to protect the hopeless romantic...haha
This was my endeavor to answer a question my bud asked. Her question, "Is Romance Dead?" Now this hopeless romantic decided to prove to her that Romance is alive and kicking, drinking martinis and Kahlua, but I, having no proof of it myself, had to go out and search for it.
What better place to start than the White Pages, right? I search for Romance and I see a "Romanava Lora" followed by a "Romanchenko Orest". Damn, I knew it couldn't be that easy. So I think to myself, who regularly sees Mr. Romance and would know how to reach him? Hmmm, I have to admit, that wherever romance is around sex is often not far behind. So I flip to the letter "S" in the white pages hoping that maybe Mr. Sex is listed. Bingo, he's in the white pages as "Sex Edgar". Damn, didn't think Mr. Sex would have a first name like Edgar, oh well, the address is listed so I mapquest that shizzel and off I go.
Mapquest says Mr. Sex lives 2 hours away from me. Damn that's far, no wonder I never bump into Mr. Sex. I bet Mr. Rejection is like my freak'n next door neighbor, but I digress. So I decide to take the 2-hour drive cuz it's the only lead I got. Upon arrival to Mr. Sex's house I find him busy (no pun intended) playing Domino's with a motley crew, Mr. Lust, a drunk Mr. One-Night Stand, and Mr. Sex's little brother, Mr. Phone Sex. So I ask Mr. Sex, "Hey, have you seen Mr. Romance anywhere? I need to find him." Mr. Sex replies, "Naw man, I pretty much spend most of my time with Mr. Lust now, but every once in awhile I do hang out with Mr. Cuddle and I think he works with Mr. Romance sometimes." Sweet, so I get Mr. Cuddle's address from Mr. Sex and leave. But as I was walking out of the house, the drunken Mr. One-Night-Stand, with an empty beer can in one hand, sees me and mumbles, "Hey I know you, I met you last weekend." I quickly rush out of the house pretending I never heard that comment.
So off I drive to Mr. Cuddle's house, thinking that I must be really close to Mr. Romance now. I'm about to knock on Mr. Cuddle's door when the door opens and I see Mr. Cuddle putting on his jacket and hat. "Oh hey, Mr. Cuddle," I say, "Mr. Sex told me to ask you where I can find Mr. Romance." Mr. Cuddle replies, "Oh funny, I'm off to pick-up Mr. Sex right now, we got some jobs we gotta take care of together. But Mr. Romance is my next-door neighbor. It's a pity he never gets called on jobs anymore. Rarely leaves his home these days."
Bingo, I knew Romance was alive and well, so I walk over to Mr. Romance's house and the door is open so I let myself in. I find Mr. Romance, who is alot older than I thought he'd look, sitting in a rocking chair, talking on the phone. I wait for him to end his conversation, and then when he does, he turns to me and says, "Whoa, a visitor, what can I do for you, young man?" I then tell him, "Y'know, Mr. Romance, alot of people out there think you are dead. How come?" Mr. Romance then tells me that people barely use him anymore. People think he's too old and thus he barely gets calls for people to use his services anymore. He said occasionally he'll get a call from some random boy trying to make a mix tape or needing help picking out flowers. Or occasionally he'll get a call from Mr. Proposal cuz he's got some work for him. I start feeling sad for Mr. Romance and ask him for his number saying, "Mr. Romance, I promise you, when I find that special someone, your phone will be going off the hook with my daily inquiries and requests." He smiles and gives me his number and I thank Mr. Romance for his time and ask him, "So who were you talking to on the phone when I walked in?" And Mr. Romance replies, "Oh that was my dear old friend, Mr. Chivalry, poor guy gets less calls than I do." So I say goodbye and thank him again thinking, "Damn, even Mr. Chivalry is alive? I'm gonna have to visit him someday too." --written by Hopeless Romantic
He's so clever! I enjoyed this story! It's good to know that Mr. Romance and Mr. Chivalry are still around. It's up to us to keep them young at heart! I hope to see them soon in the near future! I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, but I've become more of a HOPEFUL romantic ;)--Shay
